With gas prices reaching $6 per gallon, many Americans are getting desperate. Desperation leads to poor decision making. Some people seem willing to sell their souls for cheap gas. Others seem willing to give up on democracy and a free market economy for cheap gas. Maybe they want to turn us into Venezuela where there is no democracy, no free markets, but gas is cheap. There's a better way to save 50% in gas: drive half as much.
Slap Consulting serves food for thought. We toss words together to slap you into innovative thinking. Carryout at TakeSlap.com
Consolidate trips. Telework if you can. Find another job that is closer to home. Move closer to work. Share rides with a co-worker. Share rides with others in the area. Plan trips ahead so that you can stop on the way and eliminate unnecessary trips. Forget about that expensive road trip that can get everyone killed. Highways are deadly dangerous. Get Amazon Prime, Doordash, Uber Eats, and others to deliver stuff for you. Get a more fuel efficient car.
You can easily save 50% in gas costs by driving half as much. There are many ways to cut and reduce your gasoline expenses. Be creative. Whatever you do. don't surrender to the government. Trust the free market economy. Sooner or later, one way or another, the market will balance and settle on a price for gas.
Bet on innovation. Enjoy creativity. When prices go up, the incentives on innovating on alternative sources of energy and fuel efficiency go up. Trust the creativity and ingenuity of free people participating in a free marketplace. In the long run, that is always preferable to a government run economy.
Whatever you do, don't wish for the government to control prices. We don't want to live in a government controlled economy. We know well that politicians cannot solve anything. Government is a necessary evil, but not a panacea for economic challenges. Let the federal government focus on national defense, security, infrastructure, and international affairs. Let state government focus on security and public works. Let private companies, entrepreneurs, and consumers set market prices based on supply and demand.
Do not make a pact with the devil. Putin can give you cheap gas in return for your metaphorical ass. The same applies to the MAGA King. Trump can negotiate a deal with his master Putin and give you free gas in exchange for your ass. Don't fall for that trap. Many others have fallen for the promises of kings and dictators. It has never ever worked out well. Think about it. If gas is too expensive for you, drive less. That will make you safer and less likely to die or get seriously hurt in a car accident.
Food for thought. What do you think?
