The Department of Justice (DOJ) must indict Trump. In our country, no person is above the law. Not even a former president; not even the political leader of more than 80 million Americans. Any other American found in possession of stolen, mishandled, and potentially hidden Top Secret classified documents would face criminal prosecution. Trump cannot be an exception.
Like any other American found in possession of illegally obtained federal property, Trump must be prosecuted. Like any other American, Trump is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence. Trump remains innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
A jury can either convict or acquit Trump. Trump is entitled to legal representation and all protections under the law. Trump will not be flown to a secret prison for water boarding or anything like that. We are a civilized Nation under the rule of law. If the government cannot prove its criminal case against Trump beyond any reasonable doubt, and following all due process under the law, Trump must be acquitted.
A jury may very well acquit Trump if the government does not have a strong case or cannot prove it in court. There are so many nuances to the federal criminal process and Trump, as any other American, deserves the maximum protection and due process in a criminal prosecution.
If a Jury finds Trump guilty, a judge will decide what sentence to apply in accordance with applicable law and judicial discretion. The next Republican president, or even Biden for that matter, may pardon Trump if desired.
Regardless of the outcome of prosecution, Trump must be indicted. It is the only--absolutely, only--way to to save the rule of law in our country. So many Americans, especially nonwhites, face criminal prosecution in our country for lesser offenses, that it would unconceivable not to indict and prosecute Trump. By the way, if Hillary, Hunter Biden, Biden, whoever, also needs to be indicted and prosecuted, that's what DOJ should do. No person is above the law. If Hillary, Hunter, Obama, or anyone else did in the past or does in the future what Trump has done, they should all be legally prosecuted.
Pressing charges against Trump will be historic. It may change our Nation forever. It will for sure continue fueling the current cold civil war being waged every day for the soul of our Nation. Unfortunately, it may spark violence and in theory it could spin out of control in an all out second civil war. That is highly unlikely, but possible.
If our country were to explode into a second civil war, you will want to survive it and wait it out. You do not have to be part of it unless you are already in the military, are otherwise ordered to fight in it, or personally want to fight in the war. It would be a personal decision.
The best advice that we can gather from history is to move to another country, help your side from abroad, return afterwards if your side prevails and the situation is safe. Canada would be an excellent country to migrate to in the extremely unlikely event that the United States were to succumb into a second civil war due to the imminent and inevitable indictment against Trump.
