Natural

Natural disasters like Donald Trump and hurricane Ian can help us make progress. Trump helped us diagnose a malignant white supremacy melanoma in our society. Hurricane Ian reminded us of the clear and present danger of climate change and the true cost of living in places like Florida.

Slap is food for thought. Take more at TakeSlap.com

The liberal consensus all around the world is that Trump is a piece of shit. Intuitively, we think that there is nothing good in poop. However, studying stool samples helps us gather valuable information about the health of patients and communities. Trump may be human excrement, but there is a lot that can be studied and learned about him and the MAGA cancer that he helps metastasize every day.

The general consensus is that hurricanes like Ian are inevitable disasters that will continue increasing in frequency and intensity due to global warming. It's simple science. Warmer waters generate stronger storms and do so more often. Florida will continue seeing increased devastation for decades to come. This knowledge can help us make better decisions collectively and individually. Perhaps low gas prices are not a good thing after all if they will contribute to burning more fossil fuel and warming the planet. Perhaps Florida is not as affordable as it was when you account for all known risks and hazards.

MAGA WASP Melanoma

From a progressive point of view, the MAGA movement led by Trump is a malignant melanoma  threatening civil progress in the United States. MAGA stands for making America "great" again. As we all know, MAGA is an euphemism for making America WASP again.

WASP stands for white anglo saxon protestant. Due to historic and colonial reasons, our country used to be dominated by a WASP super majority. In recent decades, the WASP supremacy has diminished. This change has generated a lot of bitter resentment in many WASPs who feel that the country is being taken away from them. Those folks are the base of the MAGA cancer led by Donald Trump.

Racism is ineffective

Racism is a socioeconomic system based on the construct of race. Racism affords enhanced privileges to members of one race or ethnic group over others. The problem with imposing one race, one ethnicity, or one culture over others is that it deprives our  country from the benefits of diversification.

That's right. Just like in investing, when building a society for progress and prosperity, you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket because if that basket falls, you lose everything. As a country leading the world, and aspiring to continue on that leading role in the future, we cannot afford to be a WASP only country. That may be want country folks want, but is not what the majority of the United States wants. We want to have as many baskets and eggs as possible, merging the best for everywhere, leveraging the best of the full spectrum of the human race.

There is only one race, the human race.

Make no mistake. There is only one race, which is the human race. It's time to end racism so that we can continue expanding socioeconomic progress here and in the rest of the world. The United States is the strongest nation on Earth because we expanded the concept of justice and equality to all our citizens regardless of gender, race, creed, and so on.

Those "good old days" were not good at all. They were awful times for everyone. When you read history with an open mind, you realize that people in colonial days (1700s), for example, lived in terrible conditions. No one today would dare to trade what we have and know with what those people had and knew.

Science over mythology

All the scientific and technological advances of recent decades have improved significantly our lives. No one in a right mind would trade our lifestyle today with the lifestyle of our colonial past. If you think about it without fictional romanticism, you even feel sorry for everyone living in the past. Luckily, time moves forward and we have made significant progress as a species.

Future generations may feel bad for us because we are still very primitive and ignorant. Yet for sure we are better off than prior generations. Progress in our country and the world is due primarily if not completely to one thing: science. Prior to the scientific method, humans employed logic and intuition to figure out things. Those two techniques lead to many truisms that cannot be proven true or false just like the existence of mythical spirits, ghosts, and gods.

Storytelling primates

Science is more effective than logic, intuition, and religion. For example, while religion can be racist and exclusionary such as preaching that an imaginary god created a certain race or tribe to rule the world, science can be more egalitarian. After all, thanks to science is that we found out that we are all African primates with great imagination and amazing storytelling abilities.

Humans are so good at storytelling that we end up believing our our fictional stories. Spirits, ghosts, gods, and the "only one" god of the desert are all examples of human imagination and storytelling. Ancient and primitive humans invented mythical stories about gods and supernatural powers as a coping mechanism.

Imaginary gods and beyond

Typically, the fictional power of the gods and supernatural forces begin where human knowledge ends. The more ignorant the human, the heavier reliance on myth over proof. We keep repeating and enforcing the same fictional stories generation upon generation. Eventually people believe nonsense as true just because of tradition and fear.

We owe our progress to science and its simple method of measured observation subject to independent validation. Diversity and inclusion are key to scientific progress. Diversity brings different perspectives that add value to the observations. Inclusion brings more people into the field to collect more data and process more information.

In diverse and inclusive societies, everyone can participate, pitch in, and contribute to the collective wellbeing. We learn by trial and error. We learn both from success and from failure. And that is why it is so important to learn from history so that we can avoid making the same mistakes. By now, we should all know that racism and exclusion based on "racial" characteristics is a regressive system producing ineffective and undesirable results.

Think about it. Quit primitive tribalism and silly racism today. Free your mind. Your wallet and bank account will thank for it.

Regarding finances, you may want to rethink your retirement plans to the extent that they included relocating to Florida permanently. Florida may not be that affordable after all. Florida home prices have about doubled recently. The COVID pandemic liberated millions of office workers who can now work from anywhere. This led many people to accelerate their plans of moving to Florida.

After the pandemic, Florida has seen record population growth. Florida is attractive due to lack of state income taxes and lots of sunshine. Problem with sunshine is that it carries ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which in excess damages skin cells causing wrinkles and cancer. Problem with low taxes is that they can contribute to the poor education and confederate complacency that many refer to as Floriduh.

Global warming is making Florida less desirable each hurricane season. As the waters in the Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico get warmer each year, hurricanes get stronger and more frequent. Florida is a Southern and flat swamp land exposed to the water. Florida is getting slammed each year with catastrophic hurricanes. The trend will not only continue, but it will get worse in the next decades.

Word to the wise. It may be better to vacation in Florida every now and then than buying that dream vacation home and boat. Let others take that risk. You can rent the house and the boat to use it occasionally at your convenience (e.g. airbnb, vrbo) without haivng to suffer the financial consequences of full ownership in a catastrophe-prone location.

Florida has a fairly large amount of Floriduh conservatives too. No wonder Trump won the state in 2020, and DeSantis is popular today. But not everything is negative about these conservatives. Without Trump, for example, we would be unaware of the latent racism in our country. Without DeSantis, we would be unaware of the potential for falling into fascism.

Food for thought. What do you think.

Great Replacement

Great Replacement vs Great Awakening The Great Replacement is the observation that a segment of the American political left wants to control the Nation politically by replacing American born white voters with nonwhite immigrants. The Great Awakening is the counter observation that a segment of the American political right wants to control the Nation by instigating white rage and white supremacy. Both observations hold true in the eyes of their respective beholders. This is still the classic North vs South conflict in America. There is a lot of money to be made keeping our Nation together and avoiding a second civil war.   TakeSlap serves spicy food for thought. We toss words together to slap you into innovative thinking.
