Happiness has a lot to do with satisfaction. Feeling satisfied is correlated with happiness. Conversely, feeling unsatisfied is correlated with unhappiness.
It's okay to want more in life. You have "one" life to live. You better enjoy it. There is no reason to give up the constant pursuit of happiness. However, you don't have to suffer because of it. You can learn to keep the greed and lust for more without being unhappy about it. All you need to do is understand how the process works. You can then learn to pursue more in life from a standpoint of satisfaction. That is, you can feel satisfied and fully happy yet keep pursuing more and more. Whatever you achieve will help others learning from your trial and error. We're all in this together. All life is one.
Why are you unsatisfied?
Who knows. A theory is that your ancestors were unsatisfied and or had a predisposition for unsatisfaction that pushed them to seek more in life. That trait helped them survive. The trait survived in you. Don't be a victim of your instincts. Accept them to become their master. The ability to control our instincts is part of what sets us humans apart from other animals. We can learn to rule our instincts. We can learn to reprogram our brains.
Learn to seek more for the fun of it. Realize that it's the climb what makes you happy. Reaching the peak of the mountain will give you a brief sense of satisfaction. Soon enough it will fade and you will want more. You will want to climb again the same mountain, or find a new one to climb. Rejoice in your insatiable nature. You don't have to abandon the pursuit and retreat to a monk life escaping your programming. You can learn to live with it, laugh at it, and thrive.
