Fifth

Americans are not stupid. We all know why Trump took the fifth. Between confessing a crime and  avoiding self incrimination, most Americans will do the latter by invoking the Fifth Amendment to our Constitution. The Fifth Amendment is a sacred to Trump supporters as the Second Amendment. No one can blame Trump for not admitting wrongdoing. His supporters know his style. They will not take this against him. Instead, they will be even more proud of their mafia-like boss. All they want is that Trump keeps fighting the elite establishment that is changing "their" country and leaving them behind in a globalized and highly complex world.

Americans are not stupid. Trump is an American. Trump is not stupid. Trump will not help the legal establishment prove cases against him. Trump will take the fifth plus grift his supporters to pay for his legal defense. 

Nothing will happen to Trump. His supporters will keep loving him unconditionally. If allowed to run. Trump will most likely become the Republican nominee for President in 2024. Trump will have a good shot at defeating the elite establishment again to become president again.

However, no one is above the law in our country. We don't have kings here. The law is the best tool available to stop Trump. The rule of law is what can help the establishment save our democratic institution from a viral menace and human narcotic like Trump.  

Bringing down Trump is an American establishment duty by now. Trump is a clear and present danger to our established system. Trump is the American version of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, Cuba's Fidel Castro, Russia's Putin, etc. Trump's charisma proves as irresistible as opioids or meth to his base. 

Trump supporters would do anything to throne him as their supreme leader fighting for their cause. They would allow him to change our laws and disregard our domestic and international democratic institutions. Trump can indeed accomplish things for his base. However, just like all other super charismatic leaders, Trump will eventually die. 

History shows when the super stars that amassed political power to themselves die, their countries collapse into the hands of inferior leaders empowered by authoritarian super powers. That has happened repeatedly in the developing world, and could happen here if the legal system can't stop Trump in time. 

Trump is a power addict. Trump will not stop himself. The establishment must stop him. The establishment can use the weight of the law to bring down Trump. The same would have happened to the Clintons had they insisted in keep coming for more. However, the Clintons were smarter and got off the spotlight. Trump pretends to have the cake and eat it too. Trump pretends to play loose with the law and also become president again.

In bringing down Trump under the weight of the law, the establishment should be caring and sympathetic to Trump supporters for their loss. After all they are also Americans. Millions of Americans resent being the mass ruled by a minority elite. 

We must take into consideration the feeling and emotional sensibilities of Trump's supporters. After all, we're all in this together. The USA belongs to all of us Americans regardless of our tribal associations. Besides, without Trump's supporters it would be harder to defeat our enemies like Russia or our competitors like China.
